Trust and Jealousy • hazelella • 2mo ago

My boyfriend, who is 28, follows girls on TikTok, and I'm 25.

**Context:** My boyfriend and I have been together for over six years. Recently, I've noticed that he's been following a lot of girls on TikTok. I want to clarify that I typically don't mind him following other girls, but the current situation is different. Out of the approximately 250 accounts he follows, around 200 are girls, and they are primarily Asian. For context, I'm Hispanic and don’t resemble them at all. I know this might make me seem insecure, but it's tough not to feel that way. It definitely makes me uneasy, and I’m unsure how to address it without starting an argument. I want to emphasize that I’m not constantly checking his follows; it's just something that’s been on my mind. He mostly just follows and occasionally likes their videos, without much interaction. How should I approach this? I want to avoid coming off as controlling; I simply find it bothersome. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

How do you think your boyfriend would react if you brought up your feelings about his TikTok follows in a calm and honest conversation?

Communicate your feelings openly and honestly. Just say, "I feel uneasy about your follows, can we talk?"

How can you express your feelings about your boyfriend following a lot of girls on TikTok without coming across as insecure or controlling?

It's completely normal to feel uneasy about this! Approach your boyfriend gently by sharing your feelings without accusations. You might say something like, “I’ve noticed the accounts you follow on TikTok, and I just wanted to understand your thoughts on it. It makes me feel a bit insecure.” This opens the door for a conversation without sounding controlling. Honest communication is key, and it can strengthen your connection!

It’s completely normal to feel uneasy about this! Try to approach the conversation gently and focus on your feelings rather than his actions. You could say something like, "I noticed you've been following a lot of girls on TikTok, and I wanted to share that it makes me feel a bit insecure." This opens the door for dialogue without sounding accusatory. Emphasizing your feelings can foster understanding and strengthen your connection. Good luck!

It's completely normal to feel uneasy about this situation. Start by having an open, honest conversation with him. Share your feelings without accusing him—focus on how it makes you feel, not on his actions. A gentle approach can help you both understand each other better and strengthen your bond. You've got this!

After noticing the TikTok follows, Sarah felt a flutter of unease. One night, she sat down with Jake, her boyfriend of six years. "Hey, can we chat? I noticed you follow a lot of girls, and it’s been on my mind." Jake smiled. "Sure! I didn’t think it’d bother you. I like their content." “We're cool, just checking in.” He took her hand. “Thanks for sharing. Your feelings matter.” That conversation brought them closer, reminding her it’s okay to express worries.
