Guidance

I'm on a date with my ex at the movies, and we're trying to rekindle our relationship. So far, the date has been going well. While watching the film, she brings up her son, mentioning that he doesn’t like to leave the house. I suggest it’s probably because he has a PS5 at home and feels more comfortable there; I can relate since I was a kid once too. Then she adds, “I wish he would leave the house sometimes, so I could have company over.” I can’t help but feel that she might be referring to someone other than me, which is strange since I've spent time with her both with and without her kid. Am I overthinking this, or is there something more to it?

Do you think she's hinting at wanting more adult time with someone besides her son?

You're not overthinking—trust your gut. Just talk to her about it gently. Stay open!

It sounds like you’re reading too much into it! She may just be sharing her feelings about her son. Focus on enjoying the date and see how things unfold. Good luck!

Are you concerned that her comment about wanting company might suggest she's interested in dating someone else?

Do you think she's expressing a desire for adult company when she's hinting at wanting her son to leave the house?

It sounds like you’re picking up on something subtle. Trust your instincts, but try to keep the vibe light. Maybe ask her directly, but in a playful way. Enjoy the date!

It’s natural to wonder, especially since you’re trying to rekindle things. She might just be expressing her feelings about needing time for herself. Try to focus on your connection during the date. If it weighs on you, consider bringing it up gently later. Communication can clear the air! Enjoy the moment!

It's natural to feel a bit insecure in this situation, especially since you're trying to rekindle your relationship. Her mention of wanting company could simply reflect her desire for social interaction while parenting. It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s referring to someone else. Focus on enjoying the date and having open, honest conversations. If it continues to bother you, consider gently bringing it up later. Trust your instincts!
