Trust and Jealousy • michaelharper • 25d ago

My wife [34F] engaged in conversation with another person.

I have been married for five years and have been in a relationship for sixteen years, and we have a wonderful two-year-old daughter together. Seven years ago, my wife had an affair, which I chose to forgive. Recently, however, I noticed that she was sharing some Pinterest posts with that same person, including images of tattoos and cakes, though there were no direct conversations. I'm not typically a possessive person and I acknowledge that she has the right to communicate with anyone she wishes. However, I believe I deserve to know about these interactions so I can determine whether I'm comfortable with the nature of their relationship. The idea of experiencing something similar to what happened in the past fills me with anxiety. I trust her, but I can't shake the fear that lingers. What should I do?

It’s understandable to feel anxious given your history. Open communication is key. Consider expressing your feelings to her in a non-confrontational way. Share your concerns about trust and your past experiences; this can foster understanding. It’s important to nurture your bond and reassure each other of your commitment. Trust your instincts but tackle your fears together as a team. Trust can be rebuilt, but it takes openness and support from both sides.

It’s natural to feel anxious, especially with a past scar. Consider talking to your wife in a calm, open manner. Share your feelings honestly, focusing on how her actions affect you rather than blaming her. Building that trust takes communication. Perhaps you can both set boundaries that make you feel secure together.
