Is my boyfriend monitoring my location?

I’m a 20-year-old woman who has been playing volleyball since I was 10. Recently, I posted in a Facebook group looking for local playing opportunities. A guy reached out and asked if I wanted to join his team, and I mentioned that I’d need to check my schedule first. Since then, my boyfriend, who is 25, has been asking me repeatedly if I plan to play with this guy. He even looked up when the guy graduated from college and sent him a friend request on Facebook, despite the fact that I’ve never met him in person. My boyfriend hasn't communicated with him directly, yet he felt the need to add him just because I mentioned him. It feels to me like my boyfriend wants to keep tabs on me through this guy. Interestingly, I have female friends from volleyball on Facebook, but my boyfriend hasn’t felt the need to add them. Am I overreacting, and how should I handle this situation?
