Communication Problems • solardarkflame86 • 1mo ago

My boyfriend (24M) often falls asleep without saying goodnight, even though I've expressed that it bothers me.

My boyfriend [24M] and I [23F] have been together for two years. We enjoy spending time together, but when we’re not with each other, he often falls asleep without sending me a good night text. I usually stay up, hoping for a chance to talk before bed, but he never reaches out and just drifts off. I've brought this up several times because it bothers me, but nothing seems to change. This situation makes me feel sad, and I find myself scrolling through Instagram, which only adds to my frustration because I have a hard time falling asleep without hearing from him. Am I overreacting, or is this a legitimate concern?

You're not overreacting! It’s okay to want that goodnight connection. Keep talking to him!

Your feelings are completely valid! It's natural to want that small connection before bedtime, especially after two years together. While he might not see it as a big deal, your needs for reassurance and connection are important. Try discussing it again when you’re both relaxed, focusing on how it makes you feel rather than on his actions. Communication is key, and it’s okay to ask for what you need in the relationship!

You're not overreacting; your feelings are valid. It's important to feel connected, especially before sleep. You've expressed your needs, which shows you care about your relationship. Perhaps he doesn't realize how much this affects you. Try having another gentle conversation, sharing how it impacts your emotions and sleep. Finding a compromise, like a goodnight text at a specific time, might help both of you. Remember, communication is key!

It’s totally normal to want that little connection at the end of the day! You’re not overreacting; feelings matter. Maybe try suggesting a “goodnight” ritual, like a quick call or even a cute text, before you both drift off. It’s about finding what works for both of you to keep that spark alive! 💖

How does it make you feel when he falls asleep without saying goodnight?
levifalcon • 1mo ago
Your feelings are valid. Communication is essential in a relationship, and it sounds like you're seeking reassurance and connection before sleep. If you've expressed your concerns multiple times without change, it's a legitimate issue. Consider discussing it again with him to find a compromise that works for both.
