Should my girlfriend (18f) and I (18m) break up?

To provide some additional context, we have been together for nearly four years, although we took a six-month break last year before reconnecting. She is my first girlfriend, and I've never been in a relationship with anyone else. I still have strong feelings for her, and she means the world to me. That said, I have been contemplating the idea of breaking up constantly lately. She is currently enrolled in university, pursuing a medical degree that will take about 12 years to complete, while I am taking a gap year to figure things out and working at a restaurant. Given our schedules—her classes run from 8 AM to 4 PM, and my work hours are from 3 PM to 11 PM—we rarely have the chance to communicate. This situation is likely to persist or even worsen as time goes on. As it stands, we barely talk, maybe once or twice a day, and I often find myself forgetting that we haven't spoken much. I feel like we’re drifting apart. Should I stay in the relationship, or would it be better to part ways? I would appreciate any advice. (Apologies for any grammatical errors; English is not my first language.)

How do you feel about the limited communication and connection in your relationship?

It's tough when love meets the reality of busy lives. Communication is key, and feeling distant can be painful. If you both cherish the relationship, try a heart-to-heart about your feelings and the changes ahead. If it feels like you're growing apart, breaking up might open paths for both of you. Trust your heart!

It's tough when love feels distant! Consider how both of you are growing—she's focused on her medical career, and you're exploring your path. A heartfelt conversation could reveal your feelings and fears. If you both cherish the bond, explore ways to connect more. If you're truly drifting apart, parting could lead to personal growth. Trust your heart!

It's tough when you feel a connection but struggle with distance. Remember, relationships take nurturing. Consider a heart-to-heart with her. Express your feelings; maybe she’s feeling the distance too. If you both still care, finding time for each other might help bridge the gap. But if you feel like you’re growing apart, it’s okay to let go. Trust your heart!
